BOOK REVIEWS

Got a book in mind you want to post a review for fellow engineers? Click here>>

The first book I wanted to review was “Signal Integrity Issues and Printed Circuit Board Design” by Mr. Douglas Brooks (ISBN 0-13-141884-X). This book was one of the first books i read, within a couple of years of getting into the industry.

What is in it?

The book contains 400 pages of information related to basic electronics, Signal Integrity issues, PCB layout design and also about EMC. Though it starts from basic electronics, the book is segmented into two halves having both a beginner and the advanced reader in mind. The first set can be bypassed by engineers who have the electronics fundamentals in place already. Read more >>

Today’s book for review is “PCB Design for Real-World EMI Control” by Mr. Bruce R.Archambeault (ISBN 1-4020-7130-2). I got this book from one of my colleagues at work and thought i should give it a read – which i eventually did!

What is in it?

Unlike many other technical books, this book does not contain densely populated text that puts off the novice reader. The total number of pages is around 250 and book itself looks skinny. But given the fact that the book concentrates only on EMI/EMC, it should be said it covers all the important topics. The books starts of with fundamentals and then the author moves on to explain EMC sources, EMC filters and some tips on what to do when the product fails EMC testing. The book ends with a teaser on 3D EMC computational modelling- which is basis of the next book by the same author – well planned, i should say! Read more >>
